Life Drawing Fail

I had my second life drawing lesson today, and it went really well. First we did ten twenty second drawings, only being allowed to use 3 line per drawing. I didn't like doing that, but it was over pretty quickly. Then we had three two minute drawings which allowed much more detail, and in one I even had time to shade. The we did another contour drawing like last week, ten minutes of not being allowed to look at the paper, It teaches you to look at the subject more and to see things you would normally miss. The we did my favourite. Twenty minute charcoal reduction drawing. Finally something I can do well. It turned out really well in my opinion and I was really proud of it, and I had time to do the entire body, except the top of the head. All of these drawings were done in charcoal which is a very smudgy media.

Now I bet you expect photos of these drawings, but unfortunately, I must disappoint. I didn't know we would use charcoal and so didn't bring any fixative (hairspray etc) and so I rolled the drawings up and put them in Ben's boot to take home, and when I got back, the drawings had rubbed terribly. The charcoal reduction had rubbed black over all the others and the drawing its self was barely recognisable. So I recycled the life drawings in the bin. Sad times :(
